Brittney Parris, RD

Brittney is a dietitian who structures sessions as your collaborator in health. Brittney’s goal is to “give you your wings to fly.” In other words, build a relationship and rapport that allows you to participate in nutrition education and counseling, with the goal of confidently making choices about food. She works closely with clients to “listen to their body,” but the next step is, learning how to respond or answer those cues. Maintaining and honoring culture and food traditions are paramount in Brittney’s work with clients.

Brittney has expertise working with clients throughout the lifespan, from pediatrics through geriatrics. She has both inpatient and outpatient experience working with clients with cardiovascular disease, heart failure, pre-diabetes, GERD and weight management. Brittney has special interest in working with adolescents, working to reduce weight stigma and develop health eating habits as teens enter adulthood and become more independent in their meal choices.

Brittney’s education and training include completing her Bachelor of Arts in Biology/Pre-Medicine and Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition, both at New York University; and a rigorous clinical nutrition internship at Duke University Hospital. She has held positions in adult Intensive Care Units, Neonatal Intensive Care Units, an outpatient adolescent health clinic and as a clinical nutrition manager.

In her spare time, Brittney does lots of walking (and cuddling) with her German Shepherd, Chance. She is a native Brooklynite, who loves all things New York – including food, fashion and catching a breeze on her stoop.
