Hi there! I’m Shannon, the owner and founder of Summit Nutrition, LLC.
I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who specializes in treating individuals with disordered eating and eating disorders. I am passionate about helping normalize a person's eating patterns using a non-diet, weight-neutral approach, while achieving health that is without any guilt. I believe in a life of freedom—free from dieting, food rules, restrictions, rigidity, compulsions, and shame. I will help support and guide you in your nutrition journey. We work together to find peace and balance – whatever that might look like for you. Treatment plans are completely individualized as no one client is alike.
My mission is to help you rediscover what it means to fuel your body in a regular, safe way that feels good and supports your health goals. I will work alongside you to restore your relationship with food, trust your body, and to reclaim what healthy looks like, while nourishing your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. I believe that the number on a scale should not define someone’s value and worth. Everyone can learn to normalize their eating patterns and enjoy food and moving their body while avoiding the unhealthy spiral of constant obsession.
Since 2000, I have been providing nutrition therapy for individuals in a variety of settings. I began my career as a clinical nutritionist at several Kansas City area hospitals. After realizing how much I enjoyed working with diabetics, I joined a private endocrinology practice working with both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics. While working with this population, I also obtained experience providing nutrition and personal training to members of a local health club. Through this, I found a passion for working with people who struggled with unhealthy eating patterns and excessive exercise.
One of my long-term goals was to live in Colorado, and that opportunity finally came when I accepted a position with the Eating Disorder Center of Denver in 2003. I worked with the partial hospitalization program (PHP), the intensive outpatient program (IOP), and outpatient levels of care. These experiences helped me to start my private practice in 2006.
After living in Colorado for 20 years, I am thrilled to be back in northern California, where I was born. I have always appreciated all things food related; I like cooking and baking with my family, enjoying a fabulous meal, or even visiting a local winery. The beach is my happy place. I love exploring new areas, hiking, paddleboarding, and playing pickleball. I have two shih tzus, who often join me for client sessions.
I look forward to partnering with you to establish a new way of looking at your health!
