I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA and is a certified diabetic educator (C.D.C.E.S), and a CDC Certified Lifestyle Coach with Master Trainer Select experience.
I have devoted many years to the dietetic profession. I served as president of the President of the Pennsylvania Dietetic Association Foundation, Pennsylvania Dietetic Association and is a former President of the Philadelphia District. I have been an active member of several American Dietetic Association National Practice Groups including Food and Culinary Professionals, Nutrition Entrepreneurs, Diabetic Care and Education, Dietitians in Business and Communications.
I am a strong proponent of self-management through lifestyle changes, especially in today’s healthcare environment. The role of educators is to provide support as well as to effectively counsel, educate and motivate individuals who need help to reach their wellness goals.
My parents were role models who helped guide me through my journey to become a registered dietitian. My father was a dedicated physician who was committed to taking care of his patients and family. He introduced me to the health care arena and the importance of communication and listening to his patients. My mother was born and raised in France by a French father and an American mother. She married an America doctor and I am one of seven children. After her children were grown, one of her projects was to teach culturally diverse cooking classes. Her love of food helped me to develop my culinary skills with a focus on food as medicine.
