I am a Registered Dietitian who is licensed and based in my home state of New Jersey. Through this process to become a dietitian, I completed a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of New Haven. I then received a Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of North Florida, where I also completed a dietetic internship. During my internship, I worked in many areas of nutrition such as food service, clinical, community, disordered eating, sports nutrition, and social media. Thus far, my professional experience includes working in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient work as a bariatric dietitian. These experiences have exposed me to various disease states and comorbidities. As a dietitian, it is important to understand cultural, religious, and economic backgrounds of all clients and patients to honor specific behaviors, beliefs, and foods that belong to groups of people. I feel as though my journey as a student and registered dietitian have helped me become compassionate in health care settings.
Although I became a registered dietitian, my interest with food and nutrition started at 16 years old, when I was referred to a private practice dietitian. She offered me a safe space where I received nutrition counseling and education. Most importantly, she believed in my progress and my ability to grow. My dietitian inspired me to do for others what she was able to do for me, and now I am able to follow in her footsteps.
Outside of my professional career, I enjoy reading fictional books and I recently started listening to audiobooks. My favorite dish to cook for Sunday dinner is spaghetti with meatballs and Italian sausages. One fun fact about me is that I have a Dutch bunny named Gerard.
