Background

I became interested in nutrition while living in Okinawa, Japan and noticing the differences between the Asian diet and the American diet. I started college in Japan, and transferred to Appalachian State University in NC to get my degree in Food and Nutrition. I was then accepted into a Dietetic Internship in Florida, subsequently passed my RD exam and worked for the Palm Beach County Health Department for just over two years working in the Women, Infants and Children program.

My dad had retired from the Marine Corps and my parents were living in CA, so I decided to move there and started a short term position working at a Veterans' Home providing Medical Nutrition Therapy to military veterans. I like working with the military and their families, and was offered a position at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton in the Nutrition Clinic. After working there about a year, I was promoted to Supervisor of the Nutrition Clinic, and supervised an additional three Registered Dietitians and a secretary. During my 11 years at NHCP, I got married and had two beautiful children. In 2020, my husband and I moved to TX so we could adjust our lifestyles to have more time with our children. I started doing telehealth Medical Nutrition Therapy, and love being able to help more people than ever with maintaining and improving their health with the nutrition education I share.

Approach

"I am passionate about health and nutrition, and it is evident in the education and counseling I provide to my students, patients, and clients. My passion for healthy living started when I was very young, but especially when I moved from the US to Japan after my USMC father was stationed there. Noticing the differences between the American diet and the Asian diet, I decided for my career path to be focused on maintaining health through good nutrition and educating others on doing the same."
