Welcome! I'm Camila, a queer, small-fat, first-generation Latina dietitian passionate about inspiring people, building community, and transforming healthcare. I focus on the intersections between psychology and nutrition, with an emphasis on nutrition counseling, anti-diet health education, and practical cooking and baking. I’m an avid home cook and have taught hundreds of people how to make meals that are tasty, practical, quick, and easy on the wallet.
As someone with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), I’m dedicated to providing practical nutrition therapy for PCOS and diabetes management that avoids dieting and negative self-talk, while helping you feel more comfortable and confident in your relationship with food and your body. Over 20 years of research shows that eating for both pleasure and health—without dieting—supports sustainable physical and emotional well-being. I've seen how challenging societal norms via anti-diet values can bring about positive changes in people’s lives.
With a decade of experience, my background includes undergraduate degrees in psychology, a Master of Science in Nutritional Science from San José State University, and a dietetic internship at Stanford Health Care and Nutrition Therapy Essentials. I’ve worked with individuals and groups in IOP/PHP settings for teens and adults, and provided clinical nutrition therapy in hospitals, skilled nursing, and long-term care facilities. I also have additional training in trauma-informed care, body image, and leadership skills, and I currently serve as the Public Policy Representative for the Silicon Valley District of California Nutrition and Dietetics (CAND).
Supporting your nutrition journey is a privilege. My approach is compassionate and client-centered, honoring your personal goals and experiences. Together, we will create a safe, judgment-free space where enjoying food that is accessible, affordable, and culturally meaningful is a priority, mental health is always considered, and your strengths are emphasized.
Thanks for stopping by! Here’s to your well-being.
