I value the simplicity of life and enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and dog. In my spare time, I enjoy reading nutrition-related books to further my knowledge, cooking, and appreciating the beautiful nature I am surrounded by.
I was fortunate to gain immense knowledge from my education. I started in the culinary world as a chef which now aides me in developing good for you and tasty recipes. As an undergraduate I gained degrees in behavioral and health sciences, ultimately leading to my BS in Nutrition, Food Science and Dietetics. I later went on to gain my MS in Human Nutrition. I have worked in many different settings from being a community educator with CalFresh to being a consultant dietitian for nursing facilities. I enjoy what I do because of the impact I make on peoples lives.
Throughout my childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood, I was obese which led me to alter my lifestyle and learn about the biological, behavioral, and environmental factors contributing to obesity. At the age of twenty-four, I took control of my health and developed a healthy relationship with food. Food has been both my enemy and savior, which has given me the drive to seek a career as a Registered Dietitian.
Nutrition requires integrating an evidence-based approach while considering culture, behavior, and ethics. My goal is to teach and encourage you to enjoy, utilize, and appreciate food as medication to prevent and mitigate diseases.
