I have held credentials as an RD (Registered Dietitian) for over 27 years as well as a CDCES (Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist) for over 22 years. The CDCES credential allows dietitians to have a greater scope of practice with diabetes care and management when helping clients achieve their goals. For clients with diabetes or pre-diabetes who have a history of dieting/weight cycling, we work together to help achieve positive outcomes with your blood sugars while also helping to improve your relationship with food. I collaborate with clients using a caring and nonjudgmental demeanor, active listening skills, and an empowerment approach. I am currently one of the project managers for the Weight Inclusive Toolkit which is a series of lectures and case studies to teach future dietitians how to work with clients in an inclusive way, prevent weight bias/stigma, etc. On a personal note, I have many years of lived experience with both PCOS (including past weight stigma from healthcare providers) and Pre-Diabetes. This lived experience allows me to have great empathy and compassion when working with my clients. In addition, I was born in Kyiv, Ukraine and emigrated to the US as a young child with my family due to anti-semitism. I understand and speak Russian and was raised in a Ukrainian Jewish family. I am married with two teenagers and enjoy traveling, musicals, movies, restaurants, volunteering, and spending time with family and friends.
