Background

I am, Cinda Catchings,  a dedicated nutrition professional with a strong educational background in dietetics and public health. I hold a Bachelor's degree in General Dietetics, a Master's degree in Food and Nutrition, and a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a focus on Behavioral Health Promotion and Education.

My passion lies in promoting health literacy, healthy lifestyles, and educating communities about nutrition. I have been actively involved in various initiatives aimed at improving public health, working on numerous projects and research that emphasize balanced diets, healthy eating habits, behavior and lifestyle changes, and chronic disease prevention and management.

I strive to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to lead healthier lives, believing in the power of education to foster a deeper understanding of nutrition and its role in overall well-being. My philosophy is that living healthy should be a lifetime commitment, not a temporary diet.

Therefore, changing lifelong behaviors is always my primary goal. I am passionate about helping people become the healthiest version of themselves, focusing on understanding the reasons behind the good choices we make.

My commitment to my field is also demonstrated through my active membership in professional and service organizations such as Kappa Omicron Nu, Sigma Xi, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Professionally, I have over 10 years of experience in higher education, having held positions such as Director of the Food and Community Health Science program, Director of the Didactic Program in Dietetics, and member of the Nutrition Faculty at several universities. I have also served as a Clinical Nutrition Manager and Clinical Dietitian.

I maintain an extensive list of accomplishments related to leadership positions, committee service, and collaborative research projects. My research focus has been on understanding the Nutrition Lifestyle and Behaviors (NLAB) of college students. Recently, I was invited to serve on the Questions Writing Committee for the registered dietitian and registered diet technician credentialing exams. I am committed to the field of nutrition and dietetics, dedicated to training future dietitians, and improving the quality and quantity years of life for those I counsel. Learning to live through good nutritional behaviors and lifestyle is the common theme throughout my professional career.
