Practicing dietetics and medical nutrition therapy since 2017, I work with clients to find ease and joy in their relationship with food. I practice a "non-diet" & HAES (health at every size) approach, meaning weight loss is not an intentional focus, and any-body can achieve health. Together, we will work on your relationship with food as needed in conjunction with your physical health needs.
I have experience working with clients on: general health and wellness, food relationships, fatigue, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease & heart failure, diabetes I & II, cancer recovery, Parkinsons, and more.
I aim to create a welcoming environment for all, being considerate of cultural background and food traditions, LGBTQ+, and religion. I have worked with various dietary needs such as vegetarian, vegan, kosher and halal.
My personal background and story is not uncommon, I grew up in the 90s in middle class America, with a mother forever in search of the perfect healthy body. Growing up, I was exposed to many diets, typically centered around weight loss. I believe she was doing what she thought was best for us, but the constant negativity around body image and certain foods left its mark on me and my sister. When my father had a heart attack, the diets got even more extreme, in the name of "health." By the time I was in college I was completely lost in what and how to eat, and food was my sole coping tool for dealing with new stressors of adulthood. The internet was full of extreme diets and contradictory information. Becoming a dietitian was a part of my own journey to find peace with food, I wanted to know what was true, and find my own "everything in moderation." In my first job as an outpatient dietitian, I met so many who had gone through a similar journey, and were tired of America's diet culture and confused on how to move forward. Exploring this dynamic is what lead me to become a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor (CIEC)so that I could better help people make peace with food, and do what I do today.
