My passion for nutrition stems from my own personal post-partum experience. Like many others, I too struggled with my weight. I found the conflicting information online and from well-meaning gym-goers to be confusing, and many times just flat-out incorrect! Instead of returning to my high school teaching career after staying home with my young children for a while, I pursued my passion for helping others reach their health and wellness goals.
After completing the Coordinated Program of Nutrition and Dietetics at Georgia State University, where I took additional coursework in pediatric and sports nutrition and gained experience in a wide variety of community settings, I worked in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, heart failure clinic, and cardiac rehabilitation. I have since furthered my education and obtained my Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management (CSOWM) through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and the Certified Specialist in Sports Nutrition (CISSN) through the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN).
I have three children (all girls) and a grandson. Currently, I have an elderly Jack Russel mix (Buddy) and an orange tabby cat (Toby), but I am looking for a feline friend for Toby! In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and pets, attending CrossFit classes, and spending time outdoors.
Fun Fact: Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, I taught a variety of group fitness classes at local gyms and my nickname was “The Motivator!”. Let me motivate you to reach your health and wellness goals!
