I am Lissie and I have been a dietitian for over 10 years, with experience on an array of clinical, as well as non clinical settings. I started practicing as a clinical dietitian rotating in different hospital units treating patients with a variety of health conditions (cardiovascular, GI/bariatric, ICU and need for tube feeds, neurological, renal, diabetes, and bone marrow).
I hold a BS in Education and Human Sciences from The University of Nebraska-Lincoln, followed by completion of my dietetic Internship program from Mayo Clinic at Rochester MN.
I realized how we dietitians are instrumental allied healthcare providers to the successes in a person's medical management.
I then decided to pursue certification as a diabetes educator, passing my examination a year later becoming a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist.
A love for food and nutrition evolved into a passion for helping those in need of diabetes management, PCOS, Diabetes in Pregnancy, Postpartum nutrition, through simple, but yet overlooked lifestyle changes, and through medical nutrition therapy.
I am most rewarded to see the impact of medical nutrition therapy and lifestyle modifications in patients outcomes. In how providing the necessary tools can translate into results in weight loss achievements, glucose control, and improvement to their diabetes management.
