Background

Hey there, and welcome! My name is Emily Poznanski and I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with a Bachelors and Masters degree in Nutrition from Boston University. I have background working in inpatient clinical care setting and outpatient oncology. However, most of my career I have spent my time working specifically with active duty service members, Special Operations Forces, veterans, and their families in an outpatient mental health setting.

As I continue to work full time giving back to our veteran community—my next chapter involves expanding my bandwidth and helping YOU! In my years working as a dietitian, one experience I find unites many of my patients is they need someone in their corner looking out for their preventative health needs. Ever heard the quote from the song “we all need someone to lean on?” .. well we all need a dietitian to help us navigate our health as our lives transition and change.

My mission for my clients is to be the person my younger self needed. My passion for nutrition started the summer before enrolling in college. At that time, I was diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder and, for me, those anxiety symptoms manifested in my body with intense nausea + loss of appetite + vomiting. I knew I needed to eat, but my anxiety made that feel physically impossible. Ever heard of the gut-brain connection? (I had no idea at the time what this meant!) Well fast forward,—in college, I began to utilize movement to ease my anxiety, and slowly but surely, my appetite returned. With my newfound love of movement, I knew I needed to learn to fuel my body appropriately to regain weight I had lost and come out stronger than I was before. I began self researching nutrition to help myself heal. I then decided I wanted to dedicate my career to help empower others to take control of their own health.

Working with me will challenge you to learn to listen to your body and learn what fuel is best for you. With an evidence based approach, my hope is that we can work together to help you create sustainable, long term dietary changes. Life is a marathon, not a sprint (trust me, I’ve run both and they feel quite different!)—so let’s work through this journey together. I’ve realized over the years our society teaches us how to diet, not really how to eat—so let’s change that for you. A healthy relationship with food is just as important as our physical health because our thoughts are powerful—remember that gut-brain connection? So we won’t compromise that relationship along the way, let’s make that relationship with food and our bodies stronger.

I’d love to hear more about you, let’s connect! You might be in for some cheesy nutrition puns throughout our sessions, just warning you now !
