My name is Greta Garland and I am a Registered Dietitian with a Master’s degree in nutrition from The University of Pittsburgh. My interest in nutrition began when I was in high school and started cooking at home. I learned that nutrient dense foods can be extremely delicious while also making you feel your best, physically. This interest furthered when I was taking environmental studies classes for my undergraduate degree and learning about sustainable food practices that are beneficial for our bodies as well as the environment.
I have experience working in the hospital setting as well as long term care setting. In these roles I helped patients with critical nutrition problems related to many different disease states including heart disease, diabetes, renal disease, different cancers, and psychological conditions. My experience and knowledge allow me to be fully prepared to help with many different health concerns.
I approach nutrition through an intuitive eating lens, meaning that I help clients to reconnect with their bodies internal hunger and fullness cues and establish a peaceful relationship with food, free from diet culture. I approach all of my clients knowing that nutrition should be individualized and the client is at the center of every conversation. I utilize motivational interviewing techniques in order to promote behavioral changes that are sustainable.
I am also a certified yoga instructor and care passionately about the connection between the mind and body. I believe in the power of intuitive movement along with nutrition to improve overall wellness and health.
