My clients can expect to walk away from our sessions with a battle plan, as well as a sense of hope & optimism. Once we’ve identified any areas of improvement, we’ll set some initial goals and then build upon those during each follow-up session. The main areas I focus on when assessing a client are diet, gut health, sleep, stress management, and exercise. If there are any deficiencies in these areas, we can address each of them in order to support you holistically. For instance, if your recent unintentional weight gain was a result of a significant increase in stress and stress eating, addressing the diet will only get us so far. However, I believe in identifying the underlying root issue, and in this example, we’d address those high levels of stress by integrating some stress management techniques.
For a little background info, I received my degree in dietetics at Cal State Long Beach in southern California, and completed my dietetic internship at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. I bring to the table five years of experience as a registered dietitian, and a lot of passion and enthusiasm for the field. For many of those years, I worked as a clinical dietitian in a hospital, and worked with a multitude of different health conditions (both acute and chronic). In the last year, I’ve stepped away from the hospital and have begun working with clients in an outpatient setting to really have that one-on-one time and regular follow-up.
However, one of my deepest areas of fascination is integrative & functional health. I have a lot of personal experience healing deficiencies in my own health by working to heal my gut as well as by naturally re-balancing my hormones. I’m currently completing my Integrative Health Practitioner (IHP) certification through the Integrative Health Practitioner Institute as well. I believe my personal health experience, as well as what I’m currently learning throughout the IHP certification, can inform my ability to holistically help my clients! I also am a big believer in supporting the liver’s ability to detox in this modern world, as most livers these days are overburdened. So if that’s something you’re interested in, I can provide lots of insight into different ways to support your liver (from dry brushing & rebounding, to castor oil packs & infrared saunas).
On a more personal note, I have a wonderful husband and three precious fur babies: two small dogs named Maggie & Oreo, and a tuxedo cat named Peter. We hope to have children one day, and I always make sure to “walk the walk” as well as I “talk the talk” when it comes to preparing for parenthood and generally supporting my family’s health. I care so much about the health of the world, and hope to help as many people as I can in living their best, most energetic lives! If this resonates with you, I hope to help you too.
