Background

Hi There! I’m Jocelyn Graham, New England-based Registered Dietitian with 8 years of experience helping clients achieve their health and fitness goals in the primary care setting. Here’s a little bit about my clinical training, philosophy, & expectations, to see if we are a fit!

I first got my feet wet with nutrition as a division one athlete at UNC where I learned how to fuel (and how not to fuel) my body for performance day to day.  At that level of physical exertion, how you take care of yourself off the field leads to dramatic peaks and valleys in your performance on the field, and I was noticing the difference.  Because of my love for cooking, along with my desire to compete, I began an internship with our Sports Dietitian as I studied Exercise Science to learn more about the complexities of fueling the human body.  I continued on from Chapel Hill to Boston, MA where I got my Didactic Program in Dietetics and Sports Nutrition certificates from Simmons College. This coursework built on my foundation, teaching me the science of food on a biochemical level. I then followed this program up with my Dietetic Internship training at the Frances Stern Nutrition Center and a Masters in Nutrition from Tufts University.  This Masters/Internship experience fine tuned my skills on taking nutrition science and making it more applicable to our day to day lives and our eating patterns as a whole.

As an active individual and mom of two little girls, I have an “all foods fit” philosophy and a passion for simplifying nutrition information to help you take steps towards living a healthier and more energetic life. In our current environment, there is information overload and as a food first dietitian, I tend to air on the side of caution with supplements and quick fixes that promise a complete transformation. Instead, we will focus on decisions around food and movement today that will make a lasting impact on health tomorrow. I am also a lacrosse coach, and have counseled nutrition clients one-on-one in the primary care and private practice settings for almost a decade, so I have learned that our thoughts and feelings around food and our food environment does really shape our decisions around eating day to day.

When we work together, the experience is collaborative, educational, realistic, and focused on structured interventions that you can implement now. Clients will leave our sessions feeling empowered and confident in making the right choice to help facilitate long lasting change and ultimately working towards food freedom. While I have a unique skill in that I’m trained to work with athletes and active individuals providing macronutrient details, the majority of my practice is composed of individuals with a “non-diet approach”,  focusing on weight management, blood sugar control, improving cardiovascular markers, and improving gastrointestinal conditions like IBS, IBD, and SIBO.

If this sounds like what you’ve been looking for, set up a session with me, and see what you can do today to make your health and wellness a priority tomorrow.
