Joseph Bartolone is a Registered Dietitian with years of experience helping individuals rebuild their relationship with food, navigate mental health challenges related to nutrition, and embrace a more balanced, sustainable approach to eating. His work focuses on supporting those struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating behaviors, and emotional eating, all while prioritizing mental wellness and self-compassion. Whether you’re managing an eating disorder, seeking relief from emotional eating, or simply want to shift away from dieting culture, his approach is rooted in empathy, patience, and collaboration.
He understands firsthand the complex, emotional relationship many people have with food. Growing up, he dealt with food allergies, anxieties about eating, and the pressure to follow restrictive diets in search of better health. It wasn’t until he started working with patients in the mental health and eating disorder fields that he began to truly understand how deeply these issues can affect one’s well-being. His journey has since led him to dedicate his career to helping others find peace with food, overcome restrictive patterns, and cultivate a healthier, more intuitive relationship with food and health.
As a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS), Joseph has extensive experience in working with individuals facing challenges like anorexia nervosa (AN), bulimia nervosa (BN), binge eating disorder (BED), and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). Additionally, his specialized training—including certifications from Dr. Jennifer Gaudiani in eating disorders and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) and Mindfulness & EMDR Treatment Training (MET(T)A) from Dr. Stephen Dansiger. These training sessions have helped me to offer more compassionate and trauma-informed care.
He specializes in Intuitive Eating & Mindful Eating so that he can help others reconnect with their body’s natural cues, reduce stress around eating, and learn to enjoy food without guilt. He practices from a Health at Every Size (HAES) framework to support others with holistic health, body autonomy, and well-being, free from diet culture. He supports others with Disordered Eating & Eating Disorders, so that they can gain understanding and address emotional eating, binge eating, and restrictive eating behaviors. And he implies techniques for Mental Health & Nutrition that intersect with eating habits like anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder and trauma.
