My name is Lee Stowers and I am currently a registered dietitian living in Alabama. My personal journey with nutrition led me to becoming a registered dietitian. When I was younger, I was sick for almost 10 years with unexplained symptoms that turned out to be Celiac disease. This journey to diagnosis inspired me to become a health care practitioner and help improves people’s lives through nutrition interventions.
As a college athlete, my focus narrowed to sports nutrition after seeing firsthand the value nutrition made on my health and performance in college. Upon finishing my eligibility, I decided to pursue a second degree in nutrition and work with the sports nutrition department at the University of Alabama as a student and my love for sports nutrition was born. I pursued my RD and masters at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. I gained clinical experience working as a dietitian at Centennial Medical Center while completing my masters degree which helped me build a clinical foundation as a practitioner.
After completing my masters, I pursues a PhD in nutrition science at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. While completing my degree, I worked as a dietitian for the football team running all of the nutrition day to day clinical and food service operations. Following completion of my doctorate, I transitioned to working with Olympic sports nutrition and have been practicing in that area for the last 3 years at two different institutions. Overall, I have well-rounded experience in clinical and sports nutrition and love to utilize this education and background to help others improve their lives through nutrition.
