Background

Hi! I’m Katie and I’m so glad you’re here. My mission is to teach a holistic, balanced and mindful way of eating to help my clients live a healthful and long life. I envision a world where we don’t suffer from chronic diseases, where we don't constantly worry about food and where we still feel strong and full of energy well into our senior years.

I specialize in functional nutrition and plant based diets (I’ve been mostly vegan for 10+ years myself). I’m also a personal trainer and love to teach exercise for its benefits on mental and long term health.

I work with clients who are ready and motivated to make lifestyle changes to improve their long term health, but who are not just looking for a “quick fix”. My clients want to achieve their goals in a healthy and sustainable way, learn how to nourish their bodies and improve their relationship with food.

Functional nutrition is about getting to the root cause of your symptoms and treating the whole system rather than its parts. Whether it’s fatigue, bloating, anxiety, weight loss resistance or just not feeling your best, we’ll dig into all aspects of your life that could be causing dysregulation. My approach includes a deep dive into your labs (even if they look normal to you), your sleep patterns, exercise, stress, supplements and of course your eating habits. I also offer further functional testing to help understand the problem without any guess work. Tests I offer:

HTMA (hair tissue mineral analysis)

GI-MAP (stool testing)

DUTCH Test (comprehensive dried urine hormone testing)

Functional blood lab testing

Other symptoms function testing can address: blood sugar dysregulation, menstrual cycle irregularities, food sensitivities, acid reflux, constipation, sleep disturbances, high blood pressure and more.

Working with me:

During our first session I will take time to get to understand you, your goals and everything that might be affecting your health. We will create a concrete goal list and map out our plan and decide if any further testing is needed. I like to break things down into small manageable steps that take the overwhelm out of the process.

In follow up sessions we’ll reflect on your action items, move forward through our plan while I provide support, resources and answer any questions you may have.

About me:

I’m born and raised in Los Angeles and fell in love with nutrition and exercise during my own journey to health in my youth. I’m mostly vegan, but take a flexible approach to eating. On the weekends I’m either out dancing, snowboarding or playing beach volleyball.

I obtained my Bachelor’s of Science in Dietetics from the University of California, Berkeley; then went on to be accepted to the highly competitive dietetic residency program at University of California, San Francisco Medical Center. My personal training certification is from the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
