Hi! My name is Kaylea Flanagan, MPH, RD, LDN. I received my Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. I also completed my Coordinated Master in Public Health (M.P.H.) degree and dietetic internships at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. I have experience in acute care clinical settings (where I’ve worked with patients experiencing of health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, obesity, diabetes, kidney disease, and cancer, for example), public health nutrition, nutrition epidemiology, and the foodservice industry.
I decided to become an RD because when I first started learning about nutrition for myself and how it can play a role in overall wellness, my mind was blown! I became fascinated with learning more about the role that nutrients and dietary patterns play in our bodies, and the connection between diet and chronic illnesses. I am passionate about patient wellness, with interests in weight management, diabetes, and hypertension, among other health conditions. Given my background in both psychology and nutrition, I am empathetic and understand the multidimensional factors that play a role in one’s health. I utilize evidence-based recommendations in my approach to help clients set attainable goals and am mindful of the complexity of dietary information. I feel rewarded through client wins and genuinely enjoy connecting with my patients, providing them with information to make their own informed decisions, and watching them achieve their goals.
Aside from my work as an RD, I enjoy spending time with friends and family (including pets!). Some of my hobbies include trying new foods/restaurants, exercising, findings new music, and watching movies!
