What Clients Can Expect: My aim is provide realistic nutrition guidance that you are able to implement as soon as possible by getting to know as much about you (and your relationship with food) as possible. You can expect to end our sessions with new information and strategies to reach your personal health goal(s). I want you to feel that we are both aligned on your personal nutrition goals. We will work together through follow ups to continue your progress!
During our sessions, please ask any and all questions if you do not understand something or need better clarification.
My Counseling Approach: A constructive session will consist of you explaining your goals, health conditions, nutrition practices and current knowledge of nutrition.
I believe my first job is to be a good listener so I can properly understand you, your experiences, and what resources are available for you. This will give me the context and understanding needed to begin determining the best strategies to help guide you towards your goal(s).
If you already have specific goals, then I can provide education on the topic at hand with the aim of simplifying health and science concepts for you that can be difficult to understand. If you do not have specific goals, we will work together to devise 1 or more.
Once your goals are clear we can decide on what strategies will get you to those goals. Some people may need simple tweaks to their current
relationship with food while others may be starting from the ground up. I am prepared to meet you wherever you are on your nutrition journey. You should always expect to leave our sessions with new information and nutrition plans you can implement as soon as possible.
How I intend to continue growing as a Dietitian: While I have experience with a variety of different disease states through my clinical background, every day, I aim to learn more about nutrition science. I have worked with many different demographics, and I love to try foods from different cultures and parts of the world. I believe nutrition education should be based in science, but I also believe nutrition should consider different cultures, socioeconomic status, and the individual persons’ situation.
In college one of our professors said, “Food cannot be nutritious if you do not eat it”. I always keep this in mind. I will always aim to create plans for you based on foods that you enjoy eating. I hope you will work with me so I can help you eat foods that you love so you can nourish both your body and mind.
