Tired of feeling lost or struggling with blood sugar management? Let's simplify your diabetes care…
Hi, I'm Madi Cheever! I’m a registered dietitian, certified health education specialist, diabetes coach, and founder of Type One Type Fun, LLC with over 4 years of experience specifically in helping individuals with diabetes transform their health through food, physical activity, medication, etc. My passion lies in simplifying diabetes management so that you can live a fuller, less burdened life while achieving optimal blood sugar control.
What You Can Expect:
In our sessions, you can expect kind, practical, personalized advice tailored to your unique needs, whether you're newly diagnosed or have been managing type 1 diabetes for decades. Together, we'll work on strategies to help you manage your blood sugars confidently, while also enjoying your favorite activities and foods. My approach is both supportive and evidence-based, ensuring that you leave each session with clear steps and strategies to improve your management, reduce stress, and enhance your overall quality of life.
Areas of Focus:
I specialize in type 1 diabetes management, with a focus on advanced (yet simplified) carb counting, insulin dosing strategies, and blood sugar management for optimizing exercise. I also offer coaching for navigating emotional burnout, handling social situations, and even managing diabetes during travel or holidays. If you're looking for someone who can meet you where you are and take your diabetes management to the next level, we could be a great fit!
Diabetes self-management education (DSME) and medical nutrition therapy (MNT) are my JAM - and we will make it all make sense, together.
My Credentials:
I hold a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) and a Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition from the University of Alabama (roll tide!) and have been a featured speaker and educator in various international forums, including guest lectures and top diabetes podcasts. I've worked with hundreds of individuals across the globe, including athletes, CEOs, and kiddos/families, providing real-life strategies that make a difference.
On a Personal Note:
As someone living with type 1 diabetes myself, I understand firsthand the daily challenges and frustrations that come with managing this condition. Outside of work, I love being in nature, whether it's tending to my houseplants or hiking. I also enjoy experimenting in the kitchen, particularly when it comes to finding creative ways to manage my blood sugar while indulging in my love for Italian food (ask me about my mom's spaghetti story!).
Why I Do This:
I became a dietitian and diabetes educator because I know how overwhelming it can be to navigate outdated advice or feel misunderstood by healthcare providers. My goal is to give you the tools and confidence you need to take control of your diabetes, so you can stop feeling restricted by it and start living fully.
My goal is to be the provider I wish I would have been supported by.
If you're ready for a change and want to approach diabetes management from a place of empowerment and education, I'd love to work with you!
