Background

I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.  What drove me into this field was when I started a family of my own. As a mother of two and a physician's wife, it may seem that a healthy lifestyle and eating habits come naturally, when in fact they do not. I quickly realized that food has an impact on how one feels and how one's body ages. After learning about cancer diagnoses of relatives and friends in the past 10 years, I was further determined to change my environmental factors that can, in the long run, decrease the risk of developing such diseases and other chronic conditions. I like to use food as a protective measure. I am very conscious of other environmental factors that have changed the way I purchase furniture, handle store purchase receipts, and most importantly food. In my view, a healthy lifestyle tries to minimize all factors that introduce risks of developing chronic conditions, including what we put in our mouth. I advocate for a lifestyle changes that should be sustainable, not a temporary solution. It involves a process of slowly tapering away and adapting certain habits and practices, which can be difficult. As your dietitian, I will pave the path for you in this journey by providing you with guidance and accountability.

My drive and passion for nutrition are rooted in the desire to help individuals who have given up and feel they are alone in this journey as they long to live a healthy life. In this modern day and age, there is much misinformation that one is receptive to especially via the internet. I deeply understand the importance of nutrition to manage and keep the rise of illnesses and conditions at bay.  My nutrition counseling approach stems from evidence based research that supports promising interventions. I follow a non-diet approach to healthy eating habits when it comes to weight maintenance, or managing chronic conditions. I have had the privilege of serving as a clinical dietitian, where I provided comprehensive nutritional assessments and tailored interventions for a spectrum of individuals with a wide range of medical conditions including:cardiac, hypertension, post surgical recovery, critical care, and cancer to  general health, mindful and intuitive eating, weight management, improving relationship with foods, meal planning and  preparation etc. Along with English as my primary language, I also speak Urdu and Hindi. I can help you with meal preparation, no matter what cultural foods suit your palette. I work with any cuisine, and together we can devise a plan to fit your needs.

As your dietitian I will put you in the driver seat and help you navigate adopting a sustainable and healthy lifestyle that will make you feel good about what you eat. Together, we will dive into an individualized plan tailored to meeting your specific needs. We will set realistic goals to achieve a long-lasting, positive change.
