Megan Freundlich, RD

Megan is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist. She has provided numerous nutritional consultations to individuals, families, and groups across all stages of life and development. In her work, she strives to focus on more than just nutritional facts, but more importantly, the lived experience of her clients in relation to their bodies, food, and movement. Megan received a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition from Appalachian State University. She received her Masters of Public Health in Nutrition Policy at New York University. Megan has experience working with children, families, and individuals in a variety of settings. Her experience includes providing nutrition care to prenatal and postpartum women, infants, and young children with feeding difficulties through the WIC Federal Program in Raleigh, NC. Megan served as a Nutrition Consultant for Durham County’s SNAP-Ed Program, which included nutrition education to school-aged children, school nutrition policy development, and federal nutrition and health research. Through Durham County, she was able to assist public school principals in developing a nutrition curriculum with food exposures for their special needs classrooms, in conjunction with individualized nutrition counseling and education to the parents of autistic children. She has worked with eating disorders at all levels of care. During her time with Center for Discovery’s Residential, PHP, and IOP treatment centers, Megan honed her therapeutic approach and counseling skills. She served as Program Director to Center for Discovery’s Residential Eating Disorder center for adult women where she learned to become a mentor to younger professionals in the field, as well as an effective communicator to core treatment team members. It is more recently through SD Nutrition Group, that Megan has begun to expand her work into the area of Sports Nutrition under the supervision of Kate Machado.
