Background

I became interested in nutrition many years ago as a means to help resolve some of my own personal health issues. When I saw what a huge difference changing my eating habits made in my life and health, I became inspired to help others on their journey to wellness.  Because I recognize that a holistic approach to health is optimal, I then attended Bastyr University, a renowned naturopathic school in Kenmore, WA, where I received a Master’s Degree in Nutrition. I completed my dietetic internship at the University of Washington, which provided me with more traditional training in dietetics and a broader set of skills. I became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) in 2003 and 5 years later, obtained my certification as a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist(CDCES). For the past 21 years, I have been providing medical nutrition therapy, nutrition counseling, and diabetes education in various settings.  Along the way I have had extensive training in various behavior change modalities, which allows me to better help you identify what is getting in the way of where you want to be with your health and how to establish new habits that will get you closer to your goals.

As an RDN, my role is to not only educate you about how food impacts your health, but to provide support, guidance and encouragement as you find your way to better eating.  The primary focus of my practice at this time is to help people with diabetes better manage their condition and learn how to live a full life despite having a chronic condition.

As a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), I will help you learn about how to adjust your eating and lifestyle for optimal glycemic control, and how to minimize your risk for diabetes complications.  My goal is to help you better understand your condition and feel confident in managing it on your own.

In my free time, I like to be outside, gardening, paddle-boarding, hiking and doing almost anything that gets me out in nature. I also love to travel, and try to take at least one big trip every year. My creative outlets include jewelry and mosaic making, among other things. I'm looking forward to meeting and working with you!
