John’s interest in nutrition began during his weight loss journey in 2011 as he struggled with obesity until the age of 20 years old. Struggling to break through plateaus, he realized he needed to start changing what he was eating to achieve the results he desired. After implementing what he had learned through nutrition education, he broke through his plateaus and lost a total of 121 lbs. John realized the power of nutrition and the healing effect it provided for the body. It was from this experience that he decided to dedicate his life to nutrition and become a Registered Dietitian (RD) so he may help educated others achieve a happier and healthier life.
John graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition. He then completed his dietetic internship with a focus in clinical nutrition at The City University of New York, Lehman College in Bronx, NY. John has been working at a skilled nursing & rehab facility in Sonoma County, CA since November 2021 where he has gained experience working with clients in a clinical setting helping manage a variety of disease diagnosis. John’s specializes in weight loss for general adults, heart health, nutrition for older adults (geriatrics), healthy aging, constipation, and general nutrition. He has 10 years of experience in helping others lose weight and over two years of professional experience as an RD. John built his private practice so that he can spend more time doing what he loves in nutrition education and counseling. While collaborating with John, clients can expect a judgment-free zone and a safe space. He believes that everyone is unique and has different starting points. John engages in open conversations with his clients in which he gathers data from physical, social, economic, and emotional aspects in order to make individualized goals. He helps his clients set realistic goals and realizes there will be setbacks along the journey. John does not judge or punish his clients and likes to focus on empowerment and confidence building so they may successfully make healthy food choices to reach their individual goals.
